Pam Moore to step down from anchor seat at Bay Area station KRON

Longtime KRON anchor Pam Moore is retiring after more than three decades in the anchor seat.

Pam Moore, long a familiar face at the evening news desk of KRON, is stepping down from the Bay Area TV station's anchor chair, retiring after more than three decades, the station announced Tuesday.

Moore has anchored KRON news since March 1991.

"I’m humbled to have shared this career with so many. This was not an easy decision, but my faith confirmed it's time. It's been a real blessing," Moore said in the station's announcement.

Looking back over her career during a Tuesday broadcast, she told viewers, "It's all been a joy." She plans to anchor until the end of the month, but will be a special contributor to KRON platforms after that.

A Detroit native, Moore graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in radio/television and film and began her broadcasting career at WJLB radio in Detroit, according to the KRON website. Before arriving at KRON, she worked at TV stations in Louisville, Dallas, Los Angeles and Boston.

During her career, Moore received awards for both her work on air and her community service around the Bay Area. Her five-part series "About Race" won a number of prestigious awards, including a George Foster Peabody award and the Pew Center Batten Prize for Civic Journalism.
